Sea Life Park Hawaii. Where the heart meets the sea. This East Oahu attraction is a place to enjoy the company of dolphins, sea lions, rays, sharks, native fish and more. With a focus on educational and interactive programs, Sea Life Park is small enough to enjoy on foot but diverse enough to be a full-day destination.

The Requirements

  • Strong customer service ability and the desire to be on the front lines of customer service Quick question for you - click here
  • A willingness to learn on the job
  • A positive attitude and desire to continually learn
  • Solid computer skills and the ability and willingness to be trained on the programs and/or software to perform the job
  • The ability to work outdoors even in the weather, and a willingness to get in the water to take photos and videos of animal encounters
  • The flexibility to work during the week, on weekends, and sometimes in the evenings, including on holidays, as the park needs Quick question for you - click here
  • Must meet the criteria to pass a background screening prior to beginning work

The Role

You probably remember the amazing attractions and fun atmosphere at our park. Maybe you visited us during a school trip and couldn’t wait to come back. Now it’s your chance to be a part of the action behind the scenes, helping other guests to have the same wonderful experience that you’ve had at Sea Life Park Hawaii.

You’ll begin by completing our training program, where we’ll teach you all about working at the park and how to use our photo/video equipment. Your work day will generally start at 9am, when you’ll check the assignment board to find out where in the park you’ve been assigned for the day. There’s plenty of variety -- on some days you may work the same area for the whole day, while on other days you may have multiple assignments. Then you’ll head out on your own into the park, and will work independently (rather than with other team members) most of the time.

Mostly you’ll shoot photos and videos of guests taking in all of our attractions and encounters, including getting into the pool to get up close and personal with the animals. Sometimes you will work in the photo sales area where you’ll walk guests through the available photo packages. You may also escort guests to their encounters and help them get ready, such as by helping them get into floatation vests. While you’ll be paid hourly, the photo team receives commission on the amount of photo sales. So the more you engage with visitors to make photo recommendations, the more control you have over the amount of commission you’ll earn.

While we're open to hiring either part- or full-time employees, we have enough work that you could get close to 40 hours per week if you’d like. However, you’ll need to have the flexibility to work a variety of days and times. On days when you’re scheduled to work the luau you won’t be done until about 8:30pm, and since we’re open 365 days per year you’ll also be asked to work some weekends and holidays.

Note: this description is intended to give you a general overview of the position and is not an exhaustive listing of duties and responsibilities.

Why Sea Life Park Hawaii

Own the impact
As the front line of customer service, your attitude, enthusiasm, and interest have a huge impact on our guests. If you love being in a position to make someone’s day, to help others find the excitement in a park you have loved since your school trip here as a child, and to keep our guests coming back for more, than this will be more than just another job. It will be an amazing experience.

Learn on the job
Whether you have a little bit of experience or none at all, we will provide the training that will set you up for success in your role. You’ll learn skills here that you can use as you move up to other jobs within the park, or that can be resume builders for your future career.

Diverse, positive, friendly environment
We have built a culture of fun, collaborative and hardworking people, and cultivate a positive work environment. While many of our employees were born on the islands, we also have team members who come from all over the continental US. And you’ll get to meet park visitors from around the world!

Easy access to transportation
We offer free parking to employees, and we also have a bus stop at the top of our property. So whatever way you get here in the morning, it will be easy to get to work.

Stable company
While it’s not uncommon for companies to struggle in this industry, that’s not the case here. Our parent company is financially stable, experiencing strong, continued growth, and looking forward to a bright future.

Great compensation
In addition to a competitive hourly wage that increases when you complete training, and the potential for close to 40 hours per week, photo/video associates can make commission on pictures sold. Employees who work at least 20 hours per week are eligible for medical, dental, vision, and company-sponsored life insurance. All employees receive a 75% discount on meals at the park food court on work days, and free park admission for you and your immediate family and 25% off in our retail shops every day. We provide uniforms to be worn during work hours. And if that wasn’t enough, for your 6-month anniversary you’ll also be treated to two free experiences (dolphin swims)!

Keys to Success

To excel as a Photo/Video Associate, you’ll need to be a go-getter who wants to learn as much as you can in this entry-level position and grow in your role.

Since there is commission available for pictures sold, our happiest photo and video employees tend to be those that can share their enthusiasm for their photos and help guests make the right purchase decision for them. Though you’ll often work on your own (rather than with a team), you’ll be constantly interacting with park guests and will need to be friendly and kind to everyone you come across.

In addition, our ideal candidate is willing to go above and beyond the call of duty, always looking for tasks that need to be completed, always choosing to jump in and help where needed, and asking for more responsibility when you feel you’ve learned all you can in your current role.
